Our Programs

Symone Center for The Arts summer 2021 program is a comprehensive program that includes: Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Chess, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering,  Mathematics), Socioemotional Development, Youth Entrepreneurship/Financial Literacy, Leadership Development, Academics, Master Classes/Workshops, Field Trips and a Summer of FUN! The summer program is for youth ages 4-13.  

Symone Center for The Arts before and after school care program aims to help youth reach their fullest potential. The program offers homework help, tutoring, performing and fine arts experiences, STEM, field trips, workshops and much more. Since 2010 SCTA has provided a safe, supportive and stimulating environment that continuously cultivates a diverse array of artistry in a consistent showcase of talents. SCTA focuses on the whole child and fosters skills in order to expand horizons with the intention of empowering communities.  SCTA commits to treating every child as an individual.  The program is designed to enable active minds to thrive.  SCTA aims to provide quality programs for youth in elementary and middle school.

ACTORS BOOTCAMP

The SCTA acting boot camp offers small and personalized classes that devote attention to every student as an individual.  Through the course of the boot camp participants will gain the skills they need to succeed on stage and in life.  This program is designed to teach practical acting tools in order to allow every participant to fearlessly pursue the craft of acting.  Acting boot camp promotes public speaking, self-confidence, literacy, text analysis, self-management, critical thinking, positive/creative decision-making, and self-awareness. 

WRITERS BOOTCAMP

SCTA writers boot camp fosters an appreciation for literary arts.  Offering one-on-one and small group sessions of interactive writing center style workshops that unlock the literary potential of aspiring writers, poets, authors, playwrights, and storytellers. This program targets youth and young adult writers who have an interest in using their talents to create literary works that promote social change and community empowerment.

COMMUNITY INITIATIVES 

OPEN MIC NIGHT 

The first Friday of every month from October-June Symone Center for the Arts will feature local artist and give a platform for all artist to show case their talent in front of a diverse audience. Enjoy music, live entertainment, food and special features! We welcome all artist, bands, poets, actors, musicians, singers, visual artist, magicians, comedians, any talent you have come and Do it on Stage. Sit Back relax and enjoy the talent or get up and join on the stage. We welcome you to Introduce and perform your originally created pieces, monologues, songs, poems, etc..  

The Janet Smith Carr Scholarship initiative targets youth from K-12 in order to create a unique social media post using their special talents to communicate how they can make the world a better place through love. Scholarship submissions are accepted between January 23rd -April 29th annually.
